What we aim to do
The Growers group aims to be active in growing all kinds of plants, fruit and vegetables, flowers, trees and bulbs in and around Everton Park. Our main aim is to engage as many people as possible in learning the skills to do this. We have a monthly steering group that is planning the planting right across the park. We are small and have made a start but we have many years work ahead of us. Our aim for the park is to make its vegetation and horticultural 'feel' unique amongst Liverpool’s parks with lots of fruit and edible crops.
When we meet
We meet every week as follows:
Tuesday – 10.00am – 1.00pm on the Faith Plot on Prince Edwin Street
Friday – 1.00pm– 4.00pm on the Faith Plot on Prince Edwin Street
Some of our current activities
We are currently planting small flower and fruit patches out in the wider Park.
Planning bulb and tree planting for the Autumn.
Establishing the relocated Faith plot at its new site.
Getting ready for our new Polytunnels.
Collecting seeds and planning all the propagation we want to do over the winter months.
Some of our successes
We have planted and nurtured a small fruit tree orchard on the site of one of the old high rise blocks.
The Nature Garden is a well kept treasure of wildlife and tranquillity in the heart of the city.
We have begun to plant up small jigsaw pieces of flower and colour across the park.
We have enjoyed memorable fruit and veg harvests from our little homemade plot on Faith.
Anyone is welcome to join in.
We are friendly and have a laugh.
We know a bit about growing and can share that knowledge.
